I was very curious to see the comparisons between my responses from 5396 to 5399. Overall, I was very pleased to see the growth in all competencies. I grew in almost all areas. I had areas in which I moved from competent to strength, improve my knowledge and skill to competent, and areas that remained the same. Competencies 2-10 all showed growth throughout this program. Competency 1 had the least amount of growth, which basically remained the same. This competency states the superintendent knows how to act with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner. Competencies 3, 4, and 8 had the most significant growth. Competency 3 relates to communication and collaboration with families and community members. Competency 4 addresses the superintendent’s influence on political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context, to achieve the district’s educational vision. Competency 8 concerns effective leadership and management in relation to district budgeting, personnel, resource utilization, financial management, and technology application.
The internship activities and experiences have been very beneficial throughout the past nine months. I have expanded my knowledge in various areas of the superintendency. I still believe that I must continue to grow in all areas, but competencies 3, 4, 8, and 10 will be the focus of my professional development.
